Dickinson/Explorer students: Sharpen your pencils, ready your brain, and get ready to practice some math skills! Math Challenge is here! Math Challenge is a FREE program that gives elementary students a chance to practice their mathematical problem-solving skills with fun and engaging problems. Throughout the challenges, the program covers problem solving strategies such as draw a picture or model, make an organized list, look for a pattern, working backward, and guess and check.
How to participate:
1) Go to this page.
2) Print out the current Math Challenge.
3) Solve as many problems as you can. We encourage you to discuss strategies and solutions with your parents and siblings.
4) Submit your solutions by the due date. Bring your solution to the office by the due date or turn it in to your teacher.
We will keep track of your submissions. Students who complete at least 12 sets of challenges will be recognized at the end of the school year.
The program is completely free and no sign-up is necessary. This is a great opportunity for students and families to enjoy math through fun and engaging math problems. We encourage parents and siblings to participate in discussing and solving them. Schedules and problem-solving strategies are available at www.mathinaction.org
